Journey Through Scripture is the St. Paul Center’s dynamic parish-based Bible study program designed to help ordinary Catholics to grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures while deepening their understanding of the riches of our faith.

Distinctively Catholic

Distinctively Catholic, Journey Through Scripture takes a holistic approach, looking at the entire Bible and how all of its parts work together. It’s grounded in history, yet vibrantly connected to the life of the Church today.

Dynamic Series

Unlike other Bible study programs, Journey Through Scripture incorporates live presentation along with multimedia and written materials to create a unique study experience. Instead of centering the program around a video presentation, the Journey Through Scripture series is presented by people trained through the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology – people just like you. Currently, there are five different studies in the program:

  1. Genesis to Jesus (**Available in Spanish**)
  2. The Bible and the Mass (**Available in Spanish**)
  3. The Bible and the Sacraments (**Available in Spanish**)
  4. The Bible and the Virgin Mary (**Available in Spanish**)
  5. The Bible and the Church Fathers
Presenters don’t need to have a degree in Theology or an advanced level of academic expertise - or even a previous background in the study of Sacred Scripture! This program is designed to be given by faithful Catholics living an active sacramental life who want to grow in their knowledge of the Bible and are willing to make an effort to study, read, and pray — to enter into the Word of God and share it with their fellow Catholics.

The goal of Journey Through Scripture is to help people read the Bible from the heart of the Church. More than just a Bible study, it’s biblical catechesis. Highlighting the pattern of promise and fulfillment that the Catechism and the Lectionary teach us to expect, we read the Old Testament in light of the New and the New Testament in light of the Old — all the while respecting the literary and historical integrity of both Testaments. Our guiding principles are points 101-133 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
